Ms. Maria Knapik, selflessly devotes her time and energy as a vocal teacher.  As she appreciates the essence of a performer, Maria coaches from a performer’s insight, focusing not only on technical fundamentals but also style and delivery.  Her private studio specializes in the vocal development of amateur singers in most forms of classical and popular music, including Broadway. As well as teaching operatic technique and repertoire, Maria seeks to build a strong foundation of vocal technique for performers of musical theatre and popular repertoire. Maria thrives on the belief that her students’ drive and passion are of paramount importance.  Her goal is to fulfill each student’s vocal and artistic potential as a unique singer and to showcase their talents.

Between them they have sung at a wide range of venues, including Ottawa as well as Toronto, Paris, London and New York. In Ottawa, they have participated in the Polish Festival and Festival of Slavic Cultures. Some have also been recipients of scholarships from the prestigious Caruso-Altamura International Arts Institute in New York State.  Several of the Knapik Singers where choristers in The Ottawa Classical Choir founded in 2006 by soprano Maria Knapik and conductor Michel Brousseau to give amateur singers the opportunity to work and perform with professional artists, and to give the Ottawa community access to high quality classical concerts with local and international performers.

Her advanced students’ accomplishments include leading Broadway roles in professional theatres such as Kanata Theatre and Orpheus Musical Theatre, operatic performances both in solo and chorus roles with Opera Lyra and Maria Pellegrini productions, participation in numerous festivals such as the Polish Summer Festival and the Italian Festival at the University of Ottawa, and the Kiwanis Festival Trophy Award, in concerts for CBC Radio and Rogers TV, at St. Paul’s University, the Polish Embassy, and the Maison du Citoyen in Hull, and as members of bands.

Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243a, extended Christmas version) paired with Vivaldi’s Gloria (RV 589), performed by Ottawa Choral Workshops under founding director Roland Graham, at Southminster United Church in Old Ottawa South on December 20, 2025. It featured a 60-voice five-part choir, soloists, and a orchestra.

All About Love”, part of Music at Trinity’s tenth anniversary season, featuring the Knapik Singers (soloists and ensemble vocalists under Maria Knapik) with pianist Fabien Tousignant, at Trinity Anglican Church Ottawa (1230 Bank Street), Saturday May 30, 2026 at 4pm. Program included pieces like “Toreador” from Carmen, Mozart’s “Sull’aria,” and Andrea Bocelli’s “Con te partirò.”
