Opera buffs can hear an evening of popular opera arias performed by more than a dozen singers Nov. 7 when Productions lyriques de Gatineau presents a concert at the Canadian Museum of Civilization Theatre. The evening is a fundraising event for the company’s production of The Merry Widow scheduled for March.
The audience will hear popular selections by Handel, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, Verdi and others.
Among the performers will be sopranos Maria Knapik, Nadia Petrella, and Marlène Drolet, tenors Steeve Michaud and Michael Carty, baritones Marc Boucher and Jean Sébastien Kennedy and bass Christopher Mallory, accompanied by pianist Jean Desmarais. Italian pianist Laura Nocchiero will also perform pieces by Italian composers as part of the evening.
