Music lovers can hear pieces by Mozart, Gounod, Caccini and others when the Ottawa Classical Choir presents a concert of sacred music Saturday, Nov. 14 to raise funds for the Saint Patrick’s Basilica restoration fund.
Montreal choral director Michel Brousseau will conduct the concert, which will also include the premiere of a setting of Ave Maria by Ottawa composer Gilles Leclerc and an excerpt from a piece by Theodore Dubois featured on the choir’s upcoming CD.
The soloists for the evening are Polish-born Ottawa soprano Maria Knapik, Ottawa baritone Luc Lalonde and organist Francesca Bailey. Part of the proceeds will support the Dom Swietelko Orphanage in Knapik’s native Poland. Knapik has presented several concerts in support of the organization, which cares for abandoned and orphaned children.
